Jan Henrick

William Yeats said, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” As a Hillsborough County School System coach and counselor, Jan Henrick was a guiding light for many students. Changing lives by helping students find their way was not considered a task but a treasure. Even in death, Jan found a way to continue changing lives. In her final days, Jan and Kevin started the foundation to create something that would keep changing lives even after they were gone. This was the beginning of the Jan Henrick Achievement Award. Twenty years later, it continues to celebrate the transformed lives of students across three local high schools.
