The Jan Henrick Achievement Award

Just before Christmas 2002, Jan and Kevin discussed how they could bring hope and happiness to someone during the holidays. Having retired from the school system, Jan wanted to give something back to the schools. They enlisted the support of Wharton High School and Plant City High School and agreed that 12 students from each school, chosen by faculty members for having turned their lives around in some way (e.g., improved grades, attendance, overall positive attitude), would each receive $150 to spend as they wished. Over the years, this award has increased to $300, and in 2011, Pasco High School in Dade City was added to the program.
